from what i've played, i think it is very good, but i can't say how it compares to the original, because i've never played it.

I have admittedly only put 2-4 hours into the original and maybe 2 max into the remaster, but I've already been immensely impressed. From what I've played so far, it takes an already underrated FPS and adds great QoL improvements to basically render the original obsolete (except for appreciation of the original version ofc).

In particular, the item/weapon quick-selection menus and the optional compass are wonderful inclusions. Plus, the visuals were improved by more than you would think for a remaster made in the modern gaming scene, especially for it being a free update and not a separate game you have to buy.

Having now played further, I can confirm the compass is a godsend.
