2018 Facelift

I'd like to do a facelift for 2018 for the entire site. better UI, make everything smoother and better organized

any suggestions (particularly for the mainsite, which is all over the place)?

i can pretty much change everything, because the Online section is useless, so is the News section, and Community section has no point

so if anyone has any ideas what should replace "News" and "Online", or what should be added to the Community section just fire away

I would like to try getting Dreamcast Now working again via DC browser, a guy who helped kazade write dreampi in the beginning made a plugin, but after so many people joined, it's now broken

I'd also like to ask Jial about getting some kind of plugin for displaying latest SA1 rankings and chao uploads in the community section for some sense of continuity or 'liveliness'

i've already mentioned the better VMU uploader and downloads section and the better SFD uploader and user area, those are a bit more involved than what i'm asking about here

Heres my wish list for this site and saturn dreampipe:

-Update graphics to mimic look of dreamarena.

-Setup all dc site redirection

-I say keep news or change it to say updates, can be used for site updates, sa1/sa2 etc updates.

-incorporate all the vmu dlc and have a vmu saves upload.

-replace community with leaderboards

-merge media and vmu into one downloads section

-revamp online section to incorporate dc now

- have a file exchange system of some kind

- news/updates

- Leaderboards

- IRC link

- Add saturn games to dc now

- bring sega touring car netlink features back online

i suppose some kind of user-agent detection can be made to have an entirely different site\homepage for saturn, like the mainsite is now for dreamcast

as for IRC we need a custom server that works for both consoles. i talked to shu awhile back about creating an IRC<--->Discord bot that can link an IRC server to discord server like a proxy. but the dc discord isnt too active last time i checked a few months ago and the admin didnt give me the plugin key to even add the bot, so it fell through and we forgot about it, the IRC:Discord bot software is on github now and is probably a lot more refined by now

The IRC for dc talk does work for saturn too btw :) Thats what all the netlink games connect to actually

Making it look like dream arena would be great and also a easier way for people to see Sa1/2 or any other dreamcast rankings would be cool too

today i was thinking of broadening stuff for all retro consoles online but keep the retro look and feel to the website

the board as it is seems like a deepweb dark room gamimg site, maybe somehow it can be hosted on Tor if it can be secure, but probably wont be secure. cool idea, but the dreamcast and saturn stuff comes first. might just stick to that, but i have been getting back into all consoles generally as of late, itd make for a cool unique vibed community if it were to become populated.

Hey Dan with Agartha coming out in a few days could you maybe just do a last update to the "News" section and also post to people about the current status about the site ect. Also is it possible to turn off the Halloween them and revert just back to normal?

Maybe also Dan could add in the coming days the fact that COUGH*Nfl2k1*COUGH Will also being coming back only very soon, probably just a few days or in a week or two

ive been getting my stuff all setup this week. getting close to being back in action again to resume more work

Sweet, PC told me on PSO that 2k1 is all done just a bug for reg names in the lobby to fix

whats actually a cool idea is PSP optimization with user agent detection. a lot lf the RSS stuff and whatnot is now defunct

retro news feed for the RSS would justify a news feed on the site but i need admins for that
